I was contracted by the Department of Veterans Affairs to find alternative methods for treating post traumatic stress disorder through a mind, body, and soul initiative. Seeking visual ways to connect man to nature and the comfort of mother earth, I delved into our past to look towards the future. In my research I studied the four directions of the Native American people, old Norse mythology and Irish polytheism, Chinese humanist philosophy, and many earth based religions. While the end project is photography based, these watercolor narratives I painted in concepting serve as a testament to the progress of humankind and our universal need to connect with each other. Although it oft seems war is inescapable, if we continue to spread love, empathy, and tolerance for one another, it surely narrows the gap of its probability.
